About
My name is Cathy and I am the person behind Brecon Blooms. I am an Eco Florist and flower farmer/grower that specialises in locally grown and British grown flowers. Most of the flowers I use I grow myself on our cutting patch and flower plots here in the lovely Welsh countryside. Any flowers that I can't grow myself I source from other local British growers.
As a result, I reduce waste and help minimise the impact on the environment.
Instead of numerous options made up of imported flowers, I offer British (UK) home grown, unique, hand crafted bespoke arrangements and bouquets made up of the freshest, most beautiful, locally grown seasonal flowers
My belief is that flowers should be freshly handpicked each morning, every day, so that they reach you in peak condition. Hence, Brecon Blooms' flowers travel a fraction of the distance than those available from the typical high street. So my flowers have a tiny carbon footprint.
I don't have a heated greenhouse, just a polytunnel, a load of cold frames, and the changing seasons for nuturing my young seedlings and plants.
I like using flowers and foliage that we all know and love: sunflowers, sweet peas, larkspur, delphiniums, snap dragons, nigella, holly, pinks, chrysanthemums, euphorbia, tulips, daffodils, cosmos, and rosemary to name but a few. In fact, each day I use whatever is looking it's best as I make up your order! What's in Season?
Please understand that I do not use chemical treatments to prevent leaf fall. My flowers are natural products so some components may not last as long as mass-market flowers.
I am passionate about cutting down on waste - I use recycled, recyclable, and biodegradeable packaging. As 'flower miles' are a priority to me I only deliver to addresses within South Wales, the Brecon Beacons, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire and buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire (as family live there and I can use their house as a stop over!)
